Message from the Revd. Dom Ind

St Michaels to close for three weeks from midnight on Boxing Day, 26 December 2020.

As I announced last Sunday – we’ll go ahead with our 2 Xmas services this week but come Boxing Day, Scotland will basically be in lockdown ( bar the islands ). We’re permitted to have a service of 20 but for a congregation of our size this is rather problematic ! At the moment we’re being told this will last for 3 weeks but of course the FM may change on this. Provisionally we’ll close StM for those 3 weeks & reopen on 13 Jan for the Feast of St Mungo & the first Sunday for us in 2021 will be 17 Jan. If this period of severe restrictions is extended, we’ll review this & I suspect return to opening the church for private prayer etc as we’ve done previously this year.

For the Commissioning of Vestry Members – I hope we’re able to do this on Sun 17 Jan ( Epiphany 2 ) & I’ve asked to the baptism family if they would consider having the baptism on Sun 31 Jan when we celebrate Candlemas.

It goes without saying that it gives me absolutely no pleasure in closing the church & what makes it bearable is that hopefully this will only be for a short duration.

Blessings to you & your loved ones as we enter the great season of the Word becoming flesh.
Dom
