Helensburgh's Scottish Episcopal Church (part of the Anglican community)
Please note the following update regarding the Online Lent Retreat: There is now a dedicated website at www.onlineprayer.net which gives more information.
The daily themes will also be taken up by Radio 4’s daily service which may give more support to those wanting to do the retreat individually.
Last year some of us took part in the Lent Online Retreat run by the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Glasgow. The Centre are again running an Online Retreat this year from Ash Wednesday 17th February to Easter Sunday 4th April. The theme is ‘getting to know the person of Jesus better’. The weekly topics are His prayer and the Father, His family and friends, His teachings, Jesus reaching out to the needy, the emotional Jesus, Jesus under attack and the Resurrected Jesus.
Because of the limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic, there will not be a printed book this year. The materials will be available online and a mobile App is being developed. Like before, there will be daily scripture, a ‘Thought for Today,’ music and a picture.
You can do the retreat at home by yourself, but there will also be weekly check-in groups on Zoom. If you are interested in a St Michael’s group, please let the Rector or Helen Gibson know. The Ignatian Centre is also planning specific groups, for example, for young adults, seniors, women, men, LGBT, particular denominations, other languages, overseas participants etc.
