Intercessions for Sunday 21st February 2021

Prayers of Thanksgiving & Intercession Intercessor: Rosemary Wilson

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, bind us together in spirit as St Michael’s family, to intercede for the needs of the world.

Firstly, we give you heartfelt thanks for all your blessings to us – for your constant loving presence, your guidance and the knowledge that the whole world is in your hands.

Here remember especial blessings of the past week and thank God for them.

Dear Lord, we hold before You the wartorn parts of the world. Especially all the suffering in the Middle East and countries where there is such political unrest. The Yemen, Myanmar, Russia, China and the USA. We beseech You to guide their leaders into the ways of peace, putting aside their own ambition and caring for the welfare of the people.

In your mercy hear our prayer.

We pray for the safe release of the Sheikh of Dubai’s daughter – at present held hostage. We pray that her Father might respond to pressure from the United Nations.

Hear our prayer.

We pray for the safety of our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters. Let us take courage from them to stand firm in our Christian values.

Dear Lord, hear our prayer.

Nearer home we pray for Your Spirit to support all working in the NHS and all Key workers. Let us take our cue from them to give unstintingly of our time and empathy to support those struggling with life during these abnormal times. We pray for the very elderly in care homes and those caring for them. We ask your blessing on Prince Philip and the Royal Family.

Dear Lord, hear our prayer.

Dear Lord, inspire us with good judgement how best to use this Lent.

Make us instruments of Your peace. Where there is injury, pardon. Doubt – faith; despair – hope; darkness – light, sadness – joy.

We pray in remembrance of those no longer with us; for John Spens, Alastair Russell, Cliff Ward, Ann Cleminson and Harry Yeomans. May they rest in peace.

We dedicate ourselves to Your service, dear Lord. May the currents of your grace, become in us, a tidal wave of love.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers, for the sake of Your Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
