Intercessions for Easter Day – 4th April 2021

Intercessor: Joan Thomson

This is the day of the Lord’s victory, let us be happy, let us celebrate.

To the words: The Lord is risen

Please reply: He is risen indeed, alleluia.

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Father God, we give you thanks and praise for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and for his appearance to his loved ones. In his power, light has conquered darkness and life has overcome death.

We rejoice that once again we can gather together in our Church building to worship and praise our risen Lord. We pray for Kevin our Bishop, Dom our Rector and Kevin our Lay Reader. We give thanks for all those in our congregation who have worked so hard over the last year to keep us in touch with each other and make sure that no one feels abandoned.

(Silence)

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Risen Lord, we pray for our Queen and for all those who govern us. Give them wisdom to make right and proper decisions to bring our country out of Lockdown and step forward into a brighter future. We pray for all world leaders that they may find the way of peace for all their countries and work for the good of all races to end this pandemic.

(silence)

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Risen Lord, we pray for our community throughout Argyll and Bute, for the elderly confined to their homes for so long now, many of whom have been totally on their own, and for the children and teenagers who have missed out, not just on learning in school, but in all the activities that take place in that setting. May they find hope in the future and see your light shining out of darkness.

(silence)

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Risen Lord, we give thanks for the scientists and researchers who have, with your help, created vaccines to protect us from the evil of Covid 19. We pray for all medical staff and hospital workers, for social and care workers, for teachers and all those who have worked so hard to keep our needs supplied during these last difficult months. May they find rest, refreshment and peace.

(silence)

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Risen Lord, we pray for all who are sick, remembering especially those known to us. May all who mourn the loss of loved ones, thinking especially of Carol Parry on the death of her father, and the family of Stanley Odell, find new hope and joy in the knowledge of your resurrection and the fullness of your light and peace in eternal life.

(silence)

The Lord is risen

He is risen indeed, alleluia.

Risen Lord, on this Easter Day we seek your peace; peace for our war torn and disease ridden world; peace between nations and people; peace in our dealings with each other; peace in our hearts and homes.

We will now have a period of silence to offer our own petitions.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

We are listening and welcome your comments.
