Intercessions for Sunday 11th April 2021

Intercessor: Rosemary Wilson

After the words “In the name of the Risen Jesus” the response is hear our prayer”.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit let us hold ourselves in the presence of God and dwell on these words:

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusteth in Thee”.

Most loving Lord, how can we thank you enough for the splendour of your suffering; for the fount of your forgiveness and the perfection of Your peace. So let your presence dwell in our hearts that our lives may reflect Your glory. In thanksgiving for Easter, we gladly dedicate our days to serving you. Grant us the grace to do this. (Silence)

In the name of the Risen Jesus– hear our prayer.

We hold before You the suffering of our world and the perplexities which confront us. Strengthen our trust in You for daily guidance. Empower those in positions of responsibility to make wise decisions for the welfare of mankind. We ask for blessing and guidance to the electorate in the forthcoming political elections. We pray that you may condition our minds to take responsibility for preserving our world for future generations. (Silence)

In the name of the Risen Jesus– hear our prayer.

We thank you for the miracle of the vaccine. Have mercy on countries like Brazil where infection is so rampant. May we be generous in sharing the vaccine with poorer countries. May we all remain vigilant and disciplined. Sustain and strengthen all in the NHS.

We remember especially the souls of Richard Todman, Nette Lawrence and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. May they rest in peace. Give comfort to the bereaved. (Silence)

In the name of the Risen Jesus– hear our prayer.

We ask that You will give strength and wisdom to teachers all over the world who are denied physical access to their pupils. And we pray for Your support to young people struggling with their education and to all who are without work. We hold before you those we know personally. (Silence)

In the name of the Risen Jesus– hear our prayer.

As You empowered the disciples with Your Holy Spirit –

‘Make us instruments of Your Peace

Where there is hatred, let us sow love

Where there is doubt, faith

Where there is despair, hope

Where there is darkness, light

Where there is sadness, Joy’

We will now have a period of silence to offer our own petitions.

Merciful Father accept these prayers for the sake of Your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

We are listening and welcome your comments.
