INTERCESSIONS FOR PENTECOST 2
The refrain after “Father in your mercy” is “Hear our prayer”. There will be silences for your own prayers after each section.
As members of God’s family let us pray together to our Heavenly Father.
Blessed are you Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for You reveal Your love to us and we learn of your care and protection through reading the bible; and the goodness and grace of our loved ones, families, friends and members of our church here. Teach us to love as You love us. We rejoice in the family of the world-wide church: may all who come into contact with it find, love, acceptance, and fellowship. Lord help your church be an instrument of peace and healing in our broken world. We pray for our bishop, Kevin, and the work of the Diocese. We also pray for Dom, our Rector, and our lay-reader Kevin as they work to rebuild us after the disruption caused by covid. We pray for unity amongst Christians of different traditions who share one Faith, one Church, and one God that we may show a unity to the world.
SILENCE
Father in your mercy – Hear our prayer.
We praise you O God for the wonderful variety of people and talents in the world. We pray that these talents may be used for the good of people. We ask your blessing on all areas of growth in goodness and grace, particularly remembering all who helped others during the Covid crisis. We pray for all school pupils, and students at colleges and universities who have suffered because of the crisis. Lord guide all who influence the minds of young people: those in social media; those presenting TV programmes; those in pop culture; that what they say and do may be pleasing to You.
SILENCE
Father in your mercy – Hear our prayer.
We thank you O God for all that enriches and encourages family life. We pray for Social Services who do a difficult job with limited resources, and charities that support families that are in difficulty. We hold before You those who need help because of debt, or have lost their home, or are unable to feed themselves adequately, or where love is absent in the family. Lord bless our homes with your love and care.
SILENCE
Father in your mercy – Hear our prayer.
We remember in your presence all who have been injured, all who are sick in body or mind, those in hospital or waiting for treatment and those for whom there is no earthly cure. We pray for all those on St Michael’s prayer list. Lord bless all those who share in the work of healing and care, who have been sorely stretched over the last year and are now struggling to catch up with the backlog. Give them your strength and perseverance.
SILENCE
Father in your mercy – Hear our prayer.
We give you thanks, O God, for all the saints now gone before us and we pray for our loved ones and friends who are departed from us. May they rest in peace and rise in glory. We also pray for all who mourn.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of Your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN.
